Kelly Marshall, Minneapolis, MN. My artwork is an expressioon of color and pattern created through the process of weaving. The Rep weave technique captured my ingenuity and provides a versatile means to explore a variety of woven textiles from rugs, pillows, throws, bags, and upholstery, to decorative pieces displayed as fine art. It is my passion to create these textiles and a joy to me when others appreciate them and find pleasure in their every day use. I love the interaction with my clients to create custom designed pieces for specific settings. Each textile is hand-woven in limited editions of natural cotton and linen fibers. My designs develop from traditional Scandinavian and Native American influences, and are often inspired by the Arts & Crafts Movement of the early 1900’s, and mid century retro or modern. Kelly Marshall has a BS degree in Applied Design-Textiles from the University of Minnesota and studied design and weaving structure for 1 year in Forsa, Sweden. She founded the Minneapolis based company Custom Woven Interiors Ltd in 1992 and her textiles are exhibited and marketed nationally through galleries and fine craft shows.
